Tariffs are the topic of the day, and retailers are figuring out the best way to handle new charges related to certain products and categories.

Albertsons is telling Procurant that they will be adding a tariff charge on POs at the header level, but others such as MDI and AFS are not yet planning on breaking out tariff charges separately.

The Procurant team shared some of what we know on the recent Supplier Huddle, but here is a quick summary of the status as of today:

  • Albertsons buyers are planning to add a Tariff charge on POs as a header level charge.

  • Tariffs will be added manually by buyers as needed after the PO is created based on the country the products are shipping from.

  • A new charge category ‘Tariff’ was added under the charge setup in admin. The tariff percent rate is preset and configured by Albertsons in Procurant

  • Once a buyer selects to apply a Tariff charge on a PO,  Procurant auto calculates the total Tariff amount to be applied to the Order based on the percent rate configured.

  • The Tariff charge applied on a PO will be carried forward to the Invoices automatically.

  • Tariff charges with percent rates cannot be added or edited by Suppliers. They are applied from the buying company side only at this time.

  • Integrated suppliers can map Albertsons Tariff charges to their own charge codes in Admin. It will flow as a regular header charge on the PO change document once it is added by the buyer.

Suppliers can view buyer-added tariff charges by clicking on the header charge overlay on the ORDER details screen.

As always, we will stay close to our retail partners and share what we can with all suppliers here in the Hubbub and more broadly across the Supplier Information Center.
